开学初，我们举行了一次通过句型集中学习英语的活动并开展了相应的课堂演讲比赛。我们的同学们对英语学习与成绩的进步，英语学习应该采取的态度和方法颇有心得，但更重要的是我们在英语学习中要有自信：
ABOUT STUDY AND PROGRESS

COMMENT： This is a speech Avon made after learning the passage of Unit One in BOOK SEVEN. She applied many useful sentence patterns in this unit to demonstrate her idea on study and progress and clearly express her idea of English study.
Ladies and Gentlemen:
Good afternoon！
We all know that knowledge is very important for us. But it would be ridiculous to wish to master English in one week. However, if you study hard with a correct method every day, you will be a master of English more easily.
To be honest, as I was a young girl, I used to play in English class. Only after my English examination marks came out did I realize how serious the matter was. With deep guilty thought I was determined to learn English well.
Of course when I took my action to it, I always made mistakes but I trust that without making mistakes I cannot learn anything new. The more you practice, the better you become. The more mistakes you make, the more progress you will make. And now I am great at learning English now. My parents are very delighted with my steady progress at school.
If I have chance to say something to some students who always think English is difficult and quit English studying, it would be this: even though you have failed one hundred times, don’t lose heart. Perseverance you make in English study would pay well off.
